Walmart Pharmacy in Canada: Services and Saving Tips

    Last reviewed 2026-09-24

Walmart operates pharmacies in many of its Canadian Supercentres. Like any Canadian pharmacy, they fill prescriptions, bill provincial and private drug plans, and offer pharmacist services that vary by province.

    Services you can usually get

    • New prescriptions, refills and transfers.
    • Flu, COVID-19 and other vaccines, depending on your province's rules for pharmacists.
    • Medication reviews (for example MedsCheck in Ontario) for people on several long-term medicines.
    • Minor-ailment assessment and prescribing where your province allows it (e.g. Ontario, Alberta, BC, Nova Scotia, and others — services differ).

    Cost: what to compare

Prescription prices are the drug cost plus a dispensing fee. Fees differ between pharmacies and provinces. Ask for the total price for your exact drug, strength and quantity, then compare with one or two other pharmacies.

    Transferring a prescription

    • Give Walmart pharmacy your old pharmacy's name and the medication name.
    • They request the transfer; bring your health card and insurance details.
    • Some controlled medications can't be transferred and need a new prescription.
