Editorial Policy
How MapleWell writes, sources, updates and corrects its Canadian health, medication and drug-coverage information.
What we publish
MapleWell publishes general health information for people living in Canada: medication guides, provincial drug-coverage explainers, condition overviews and practical articles. It is free to read and supported by advertising.
Nothing on MapleWell is medical advice. Always talk to your doctor, nurse practitioner or pharmacist before starting, stopping or changing a treatment.
How we source information
We prefer primary Canadian sources: Health Canada (including the Drug Product Database and Licensed Natural Health Products Database), provincial drug formularies and ministry pages, the Public Health Agency of Canada, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI), Canada's Drug Agency (formerly CADTH), and Canadian clinical guidelines.
Where we rely on research, we link to the study or a systematic review. Each guide and article lists its sources so you can check them yourself.
How content is written and reviewed
Some drafts are prepared with the help of writing software and then edited by the MapleWell editorial team. A page only shows a named clinical reviewer when that person has actually reviewed it; otherwise it is labelled as reviewed by the MapleWell editorial team.
Drug-plan amounts (deductibles, co-pays, caps) change often. We show the date each page was last reviewed and link to the official program page, which always takes priority over our summary.
Advertising and independence
Ads are served by Google AdSense and are clearly separate from our content. Advertisers do not pay for, review or influence what we write. We do not sell or recommend products in exchange for payment.
Corrections
If you spot an error or out-of-date information, please tell us through the contact page. We review every report and update the page and its review date when a correction is made.
