Nova Scotia runs several Pharmacare programs. The two most people use are Seniors' Pharmacare, for residents 65 and older, and Family Pharmacare, for families of any age with high drug costs.
Seniors' Pharmacare
For Nova Scotians 65+ without other drug coverage. You pay an annual premium (reduced or waived for lower incomes) and a 30% co-payment on each prescription, up to an annual maximum.
Family Pharmacare
For families with no drug coverage or high costs. You pay an income-based annual deductible and a co-payment, up to an annual maximum; after that, eligible drugs are fully covered for the rest of the year.
