A1C (Hemoglobin A1C)
A blood test showing your average blood sugar over about 3 months.
A1C measures the percentage of hemoglobin with sugar attached. Diabetes Canada uses 6.5% or higher to diagnose diabetes and 6.0–6.4% for prediabetes. Most adults with diabetes aim for 7.0% or lower, but your target is set with your clinician.
